New Year - New opportunities

It is not a secret that new year gives us new opportunities. Somebody knows that, somebody does not know but majority do not even think about it.

It is a great chance to look back to the previous year and plan next steps.

NEXT STEPS, NEXT GLOBAL STEPS...  What they are?

I do not think I know much advices but i really know it is time to change.
At the moment, I do not have plans but i would like to do following:
  • change myself to be more flexible. It is hard time where we can not be sure that we will have stable work and salary
  • improve communications. There is no hopeless situation. You just do not know answer. May be your family or friends know something about that.
  • stop doing unnecessary things. You even do not suspect how much unnecessary things you are doing. It is time to make choice and do only we really need.
I do not think it is completed list but you know, most difficult thing is to do first steps.

What are yours first steps?

Release your mind. Horizontal and Vertical personal management

From day to day I can't stop thinking about my life, events, problems and future plans. It's always stressful if you keep all things in your head. The only one problem I see here is that our brains can store information but fulfill only one operation per thinking. That's why other thoughts waiting for your action. What if this time may take three days it equals to three days worrying.

I'm trying to fight against this and suppose horizontal and vertical personal management may help.

I'll start from illustration. From my point of view It will give you more clear understanding then words. :)

Day-to-day activity force us think about routine. We should organize it to system to release our mind.

Concept:

  • All problems, activities and actions should be written down on papers.

  • Big tasks should be split up to measurable and understandable points and also should be written down.

  • Papers should be divided to groups.

  • Define severity to each group.

  • And finally keep tracking your system everyday.

Day activities:

  • There should be allocated time to solve your problems and make progress on your things. Let it be define time 30 min. (You may ask me. Why 30 minutes? You should teach yourself to make decisions quickly and wisely. We have fast growing world and you should be competitive)

  • At least one paper should be picked up from one group.

  • Papers should be picked up from groups by severity.

  • You should do some progress on picked up paper.

  • Fill groups with new papers.

  • Finally, do it for all groups.

I see only advantages:

  • You always keep an eye on you things.

  • You make appropriate progress and right decisions.

  • Big task will be measurable and understandable.

  • You feel confident.

  • You don't have stress.

  • You drive your way.

  • FINALLY, YOU MANAGE YOUR LIFE BUT LIFE DOESN'T MANAGE YOU.

Organize your things by means of google calendar

I believe everyone already has own calendar both for work and for life. However, I'll focus on Google Calendar.
Why am I considering this calendar?
  • it's free
  • accessible from everywhere
  • integrated with other Google products
  • can be use with Microsoft outlook and other web-clients
  • and the main benefit is to send SMS when event occurred.
  • update and receive information about agenda for current or next day
I chose this calendar because of last points. It's very usefull. Just try it.

P.S. Please let me know if you have any questions

Self improvement. Calander is your best friend.

Today I'll be writing about calendar and how we can use it for self-organizing and pushing ourselves.

Time, money and importance are key factors for everyone. It's obvious but we usually disregard this facts.

I suppose you know how to use simple canlendar but I want to concentrate on another versions. This time it'll be kick-calendar. It's very simple but usefull.

Key principles of this calendar are:
  • to track your performance
  • not lose your goals in vanity of vanities
Procedure:
  • set global goals
  • write out goals
  • create knock-calendar that will display all days in year
  • combine goals and knock calendar
  • print it out
  • stick it on fridge
  • cross out current day everyday and ask your self "What do you do to get your goals?!"
  • track your performance
My implementation is on the following picture:
P.S. What do you think about? Could it usefull for you?

Live management. Long term plans and global goals.

For a long time I have thoughts about my time, live management and self improvement. Gradually, I'm finding out information about it. I want to share it with you and I guess we will move step by step. You know It's long and hard way but we should do first steps and grow little by little. We never be ideal but eventually, you will be much stronger if you change your life.

I must confess first step is difficult one. I believe you should be honest to yourself and say what you want from your life and what you're ready to do for it. If you don't have such decision, then you have open issues in your life that don't give you following possibility. So DECIDE AND MOVE.

What is the sense to move somewhere you don't know?

It seems to me first step (if you have decision to move) is to determine your global goals or long term plans. As far as know it's called "Live management". Let it be just one piece of paper with table.

The table may be various and depends on you but I defined following table.
First row is years. Second is my ages. Next rows' headers are areas in what I want to improve.

Then it just need to be fulfilled and reviewed every week. It'd be great if you do it as plaque or poster. There's only one rule:

Take A Minute
Look At Your Goals
Look At Your Performance
See If Your Behavior Matches Your Goals

You will definitely reach defined goals If you visualize and review it. Just keep it in a plain view.
